General Summary: 

This position is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from customers and historical models. The assistant will assist the Demand Planner in these responsibilities and back-up the position in the Demand Planner’s absence.  This position will report to the Demand Planner 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.  Use error analysis techniques to improve forecasting
  • Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated assumptions
  • Interact with sales, customer service, and customer buyers to understand demand forecast drivers
  • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with sales, customer service, and customer buyers to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts
  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool
  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
  • Identify opportunities to meet customer demands during constrained capacity and component supply
  • Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning

Education and Experience:

Associate degree in business, management, mathematics, statistics or equivalent with a minimum of  five years of relevant work experience preferred.  

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting models with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts 
  • Knowledge of software relating to demand planning preferred
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, conceptual thinking, decision making and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process

Work Environment:

The job functions are performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Tempo is fast-paced with daily interaction with various stakeholders. 

Physical Demands:

This position requires long periods of sitting behind a desk or conference room table, working on the computer or in meetings.  This position may  require occasional  day and/or overnight travel to other MCC facilities
