This position is onsite in Marathon City, WI and will require occasional travel to our other plant locations

Position Information

This position is responsible for designing, developing and implementing electrical controls systems and manufacturing systems. Includes knowledge of multiple control system platforms including PLC’s, HMI’s from multiple manufactures, implementing effective engineering solutions, maximizing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and improving overall system performance.

Essential Functions

  • Designing and developing control systems to meet operational needs and specifications
  • Design and implement PLC and HMI software
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing systems and refine their operation.
  • Work cross-functionality with engineers and team members to integrate controls into overall designs.
  • Ensure all systems adhere to industry standards and safety regulations
  • Provide technical support and training to technical and operating staff as needed.
  • Testing and troubleshooting control components and applications to ensure robustness of the system
  • Proficiency in the following programs is required but not limited to PLC, HMI, SCADA, Auto Cad, Solid Works, DCS, Robotic palletizing, Pick and Place case packing, Conveying systems, IT Networks, Electrical Control panel building and design, production line layout and interfacing
  • Proficiency with the following technical equipment is required but not limited to Desk top computer, multi meter, Amp meter, Oscilloscope, Lap Top Computer, HMI Interface applications
  • Proficiency with the following vehicles and machinery is required but not limited to Company Vehicle, Lift Platforms, Forklift
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Electrical Controls Engineer

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • 6 years or more experience in a related field
  • Certifications & Licenses: BS Electrical/Control Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • Exposure to food manufacturing environment preferred
  • Regular use of logic and critical thinking to analyze a situation
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of project management framework
  • Ability to work well and contribute as part of a team
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Self-starter and the ability to learn on own
  • Knowledge of latest safety laws and regulations
  • Required to make reasoned judgements that are logical and well thought out
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge of plant manufacturing operations
